In Geometrisation of bodies (suspended animation), each unstitched garment is reconstructed into a singular orthogonal two-dimensional patchwork. A source of pleasure (and perhaps dissent), that despite the warp and weft of fabric and the tight gridlock of rooms and office cubicles, I imagine their owners sat in, evidence of bodies failing to be fully geometricised.
The terms organisation and corporation are essential to this work. Both have links to something living and breathing and the body itself, i.e. organisation – organism or corporation – corpus/coporare (Latin ‘body’/‘to form one body’). This prompts me to remember that structures, which are usually understood as highly impersonal, are composed of bodies, of people. For it is people who ultimately make decisions and make the structures what they are.
